Premium artificial tulip flowers sourced from China
A Real Sourcing Project

The customer was not looking for another supplier list.

He was looking for someone in China who could help build a reliable long-term artificial flower supply chain.

Customer

Benjamin, founder of a flower company in the United States.

Business

B2B wholesale for wedding planners, floral teams, décor companies and commercial interior designers.

Goal

Find reliable Chinese suppliers for long-term cooperation rather than placing one-off orders.

Benjamin contacted KOI Sourcing in August 2026 looking for a long-term China sourcing partner in Guangzhou.

His product requirements included premium artificial flower stems, botanicals, foliage, protea, fruiting and branch stems, artificial plants and artificial trees.

The quality target was much higher than ordinary decorative flowers. He wanted products that could look and feel close to real flowers, with better petal structure, colour graduation, wiring and stem construction.

The project also involved supplier negotiation, sample consolidation, product development, quality inspection, shipping and future factory visits.

What The Buyer Needed

Premium flowers require more than a product catalogue.

The sourcing brief covered appearance, material, construction, certification, MOQ and long-term supplier capability.

01

Realistic appearance

Flowers should be based on real botanical references rather than generic moulds, with natural petal structure and colour variation.

02

Better hand feel

Real-touch and soft-touch materials were important for premium wholesale products.

03

Low-volume starting orders

The buyer wanted approximately 50–150 stems per order and later discussed 50–100 stems per flower type.

04

Material transparency

Suppliers needed to explain whether products used polyester, plastic, PU, natural latex, EVA foam, iron wire or other materials.

05

Compliance

The buyer requested documentation and compliance information including NFPA 701, BS 5867, CA TB117, REACH, RoHS and other social or environmental standards.

06

Long-term development

The goal was to develop several reliable suppliers rather than depend on a single factory.

Supplier Samples

Samples are where supplier claims become real.

KOI compares the actual product, construction, hand feel and finish instead of selecting a supplier only from catalogue photos.

What KOI Did

We turned a broad product brief into a supplier shortlist.

The process was not simply searching for artificial flower manufacturers. The suppliers had to be checked against the buyer's actual requirements.

1

Understand the brief

Flower types, target quality, materials, MOQ, certifications, applications and target market.

2

Source factories

Identify suitable manufacturers and suppliers based on the actual product requirements.

3

Collect samples

Samples included rose, tulip and hydrangea from multiple suppliers for direct comparison.

4

Compare & verify

Check material, construction, finish, MOQ, documentation and suitability for the customer's market.

5

Negotiate

Discuss price, MOQ, product options and future cooperation with selected suppliers.

6

Prepare factory visits

Support the buyer's planned Guangzhou visit and arrange meetings with suitable suppliers.

7

Build the supply chain

Continue supplier development, quality monitoring and shipping coordination after the initial samples.

Supplier Evaluation

What we actually check before recommending a supplier.

Flower construction

Petal shape, layering, internal wiring, stem construction, attachment quality and overall structure.

Colour & finish

Matte or glossy finish, colour graduation, hand-dyed effects and consistency between samples.

Material breakdown

Confirm whether the flower uses polyester, plastic, PU, latex, EVA foam, iron wire or combinations of materials.

MOQ & production

Separate existing-stock products from products requiring custom moulds, colours or production runs.

Compliance documents

Review the specific documents available for the actual product, rather than assuming the factory's other products have the same certifications.

Export experience

Consider packaging, export documentation, shipping arrangements and experience serving overseas buyers.

Material Matters

Polyester, PU, plastic or soft-touch? It changes the product.

During this sourcing project, suppliers provided different material options. The right material depends on the required appearance, hand feel, durability, certification and target price.

Material / Option Typical sourcing consideration
Polyester Commonly used for silk-style artificial flowers. A supplier advised that its polyester flowers could be treated with fire-retardant liquid.
PU Used in some premium artificial flowers where a softer, more realistic hand feel is required.
Soft-touch materials Some premium products are developed for a soft rubber-like touch. According to the supplier involved in this project, certain high-end soft-touch products were not suitable for its fire-retardant treatment.
Plastic / wire construction Important for stems, internal support, leaves and structural stability. Material composition should be confirmed by product.

Material and fire-treatment comments above describe supplier feedback from this specific sourcing project. They should not be treated as a universal property of every polyester, PU or soft-touch artificial flower.

What We Can Source

More than a single type of fake flower.

Floral Supplies

Flower heads, foliage, vases, ribbons and other related floral materials and accessories.

China Artificial Flower Industry

Why China is important for artificial flower sourcing.

The scale of China's artificial flower supply chain means buyers can source from both large wholesale ecosystems and specialised factories. For a sourcing agent, the challenge is matching the right factory to the buyer's actual quality and order requirements.

HS 6702 trade-data cross-check

An independent China trade-data source reports approximately US$4.15 billion of 2025 exports under HS 6702, covering artificial flowers, foliage, fruit and related articles.

HS 6702 is a customs classification and its scope should not be treated as identical to every market-size definition of the artificial flower industry.

What this means for buyers

A large supply base gives buyers more options, but it also makes supplier selection more complicated. Product appearance, material, MOQ, certification and export capability can vary significantly between suppliers.

This is where local sourcing and sample comparison become useful.

Production & Sourcing Regions

Different Chinese regions can mean different supplier strengths.

We do not treat every artificial flower factory as interchangeable. Production clusters can have different strengths in product range, design, export experience and commercial positioning.

Zhejiang · Yiwu

Wholesale ecosystem & fast product turnover

Yiwu has a mature artificial flower ecosystem connecting markets, factories and cross-border trade. The product range includes individual stems, bouquets, festival flowers, artificial greenery, premium PU flowers and complete floral arrangements.

Guangdong · Guangzhou / Dongguan / Foshan

Export, design & commercial applications

Guangdong is useful for buyers looking for export-oriented suppliers, design-oriented products, commercial decoration flowers and customised products, with access to major southern China ports.

Tianjin · Wuqing / Baodi

Northern production base

The area is associated with artificial flower and plant production, including silk flowers, standardised decorative products and export-oriented manufacturing.

Fujian · Quanzhou / Xiamen

Export-processing experience

Fujian has an established export manufacturing base and can be relevant for silk flowers, festival decoration products and export-standard artificial flower items.

Shandong · Linyi

Wholesale & logistics

Linyi can be considered for mid-range artificial flowers, flower stems and bulk distribution products where logistics and wholesale supply are important.

These are sourcing-region examples rather than a ranking of China's artificial flower production bases. Actual supplier suitability should be evaluated product by product.

Trade Show Insight

Trade shows can shorten the supplier search.

For buyers visiting China, a major industry exhibition can be useful for comparing multiple factories, materials and product styles in a short period.

2026 23rd National Artificial Plants & Flowers Trade Fair

The 2026 spring artificial flower trade fair in Yiwu covered artificial plants and flowers, wedding props and commercial display products.

The final exhibition figures show the scale of the sourcing ecosystem:

68,500 professional buyers over three days and 1,960 exhibiting companies.

110,000 m² Exhibition area
4,950 Standard booths
1,960 Exhibiting companies

Exhibition figures are from the final report on the 2026 23rd National Artificial Plants/Flowers, Wedding Props & Commercial Display Trade Fair in Yiwu.

More Than Artificial Flowers

Sourcing is often bigger than one product category.

KOI Sourcing works across different product categories, so an artificial flower project can also involve packaging, accessories, home décor or other China sourcing requirements.
